    Evelyn Tom, DVM

        Dr. Evelyn Tom received her undergraduate degree with honors from UC Irvine.  She then pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian and graduated in 1998 from Colorado State University School of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.  After graduation, Dr. Tom relocated to New York where she completed a surgical externship in lower Manhattan.  Dr. Tom spent the next six years in Los Angeles practicing at a progressive veterinary practice.  In 2003, Dr. Tom returned to her native San Diego where she now calls Singing Hills Animal Hospital home.  With compassion, knowledge, and empathy for pet owners, Dr. Tom is committed to taking a personal interest in the health and well-being of your pets.  As staff members, we all feel very fortunate to have Dr. Tom among our team as her leadership abilities, style of practice, positive, and energetic attitude creates a spectacular work environment.

        Dr. Tom shows great pride in keeping up with the latest technology and improving the quality of medicine we provide by continually pursuing further education.  Her areas of special interest include: complementary/holistic medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, ultrasonagraphy, oncology, and diseases of the skin.  Dr. Tom holds memberships with CVMA, AVMA, AAHA, SCVMA, and SDCVMA.

        Dr. Tom is an active member of the community supporting our military through Operation Homefront, breast cancer research, dog and cat rescue groups, and many other charitable organizations.  She enjoys the outdoors and has successfully completed two marathons.  Padres games have always been a personal favorite.  Dr. Tom is married and takes pleasure in spending quality time with her husband, two young sons, and pets (Rascal, Pinky, and Crystal).
  • Doug Macdonald, DVM

    Doug Macdonald, DVM

        Dr. Macdonald is a 1984 graduate of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and has been in general practice in San Diego since then.  He has pursued an advanced education in acupuncture.  He has completed training with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS).  Dr. Macdonald has chosen to integrate acupuncture therapy with traditional “western” veterinary treatment protocols.
  • Dan Frankel, DVM, DACVS

    Dan Frankel, DVM, DACVS

        Born and raised in the Washington, DC area, Dr. Dan Frankel graduated from Amherst College in Massachusetts in 1993.  He then spent a year training horses and teaching skiing in Jackson Hole, Wyoming prior to attending the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.  There he earned numerous academic awards including the Scholarship for Highest Academic Achievement in Veterinary Medicine.

        Upon graduation in 1998, Dr. Frankel returned to Wyoming for two years of general veterinary practice before venturing north of the border to complete a 1 year internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College.  His training culminated in a 3 year Small Animal Surgical Residency and Masters of Science program at Colorado State University.  Dr. Frankel was accepted as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons soon thereafter.

        He has authored several scientific articles on topics including total hip replacement and surgical treatment of liver shunts.  He has also completed advanced training in TPLO, TTA, and Total Hip Replacement, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Regenerative Medicine.

        Dr. Frankel has been practicing at specialty referral hospitals in the San Diego and  San Francisco Bay areas since 2004.  Once an avid skier and soccer player, he now gets out on his surfboard at every opportunity.
